SENiLe is a series of night
orienteering events taking place over the winter
season each year within the South-East. A variety of
courses are available at each event, offering
beginner to advanced orienteers a run through
forests and parks at night. After each event points
are computed and a simple league is compiled for the
season. The events are held to encourage and develop
night orienteering and the league results add a
little competition for the more competent or
determined runners. You don't have to participate in
the league series to run at an event - everyone is
welcome to try the courses.
This website, SENiLe online,
contains information in connection with SENiLe events and the
league as a resource for night
orienteers and night orienteering in the South East. There is
a description of the general format followed by
the league, together with it's history and
statistics over
the last 20 years. For officials
(organisers, planners and controllers) there are additional pages to help frame events, and there are more detailed, but
still hopefully straightforward, guidelines.
There is a fixtures list
detailing events in the series, other night events locally and
nationally that may be of interest and relevant contact information
to check on event status. Past and present league
results are
available on-line. Links to other useful orienteering resources relevant to
orienteering in the South East and night O in particular are
also be included. See news
for the latest night O information and for details of updates
to the site, and for a light-hearted look there is this
cartoon.
SENiLe is co-ordinated on behalf of SEOA by Keith Tonkin of Guildford Orienteers.
